How to Draw A Cartoon Fire
When you start a fire in real life, you need different materials to start a fire that is effective and safe.
We will draw some of these materials for this cartoon fire drawing, and the first will be some rocks.
When building a campfire, We can often stack rocks around the perimeter of the fuel source to contain it.
In this first step, we will draw two larger rocks with some smaller ones around them.
These larger rocks are quite big and angular and quite detailed as well. Now that we’ve drawn these rocks and stones, we can move to step 2!
We still need to finish drawing all the bricks in this guide to drawing an animated fire! The few we’ve already drawn are a good start, but we need more on the right side of the fire.
This time we’re going to add a larger corner rock with some flat sides.
Next, you can draw some smaller, equal-angled rocks underneath these larger rocks. It’s that simple, and then we can start drawing fire ourselves in the next step of the tutorial!
Fire can be quite tricky to draw at times, and that’s because it has no physical form and is constantly flickering.
We will complete this challenge by drawing fire in different layers.
These layers are drawn with shapes made up of many curved lines culminating in some pointed peaks.
Depending on how strong you want this fire to look, you can add more or less of these spiky bits.
At the end of this step, the fire appears to be going out, but we’ll make it look bigger in the next few steps.
In this step, we will continue to add some layers to the cartoon fire design. The more layers you add to the drawing, the stronger it will look!
The shapes we draw for these next layers will be equally pointed and curved, but the layers will thin out a bit as we get closer to the top of the fire.
Once these layers have been added, we will finish the last layers along with all the additional details in the next step of the guide!
Before we add some eye-catching colors to your amazing work of art, we have a few final details to add in this step of our direction on drawing a funny fire.
We’ll add the final layers of fire, but these layers look a little different than the previous ones.
These next layers will be much longer and thinner than any previous shapes you’ve drawn.
Once those final layers are drawn, we’re ready to have some fun coloring!
However, you can wait to move on, as you can continue this design with your cool details and elements.
An example would be drawing a background. You could draw a background showing a camping environment where people are sitting.
You could add loads of fun details to a composition like this!
You can finish with some coloring fun in the last step of the instructions. Our reference image shows you how we would colorize this fire.
We used different shades of gray for the stones surrounding the fire. By changing the shades, you can create a more dynamic image.
Then we used different shades of light and dark yellow with some orange for the different layers of the fire itself.
You can use similar colors for your cartoon fire, but feel free to mix other colors, like red!
We recommend using watercolor paint or colored pencils for this particular drawing as they would help mimic the softer look of a real fire.
